A: Should we remove "What would X sport in space look like ?" questions I vote on deleting sports questions for the following reasons : - We can speculate about it, and anything we get from it will be based off of physics, not on biology, geology or the methodology used by science. - Sports from earth would be so modified in space they would have different names and ... I get that, but there are more votes in this post to remove them then in the original post to allow, I don't mean to try and discredit your opinion but in this case what do you recommend be done ? (more) |

Question | — |
Should we remove "What would X sport in space look like ?" questions Do posts like (What would X Sport look like in space?) belong in this community? It has nothing to do with science, some physics at best, and even then, only to a certain degree. (more) |

A: How can we grow this community response It's no good sharing that opinion here, they started by trying to make this community all about speculation on science, then added World Building and everything got confusing, I don't know whether I'm going to find an interesting question about the use of herbivores in a war, or a Nobel winning prize... A: How Could Golf Change in a Low-Gravity Environment? Most likely golf's influence is going to be narrow, and possibly contained in one planet where it is part of their culture. If that one planet where golf is a culture manages to colonize the other than there is a pertinent question on that which would be, it's not golf anymore it's a variant of go... (more) |

I don't think downvotes get attention for anything, exactly the opposite they take attention away, because they are supposed to filter bad questions not questions people disagree with (more) |

That's not what downvotes are for, or should be used, they're purpose is to make good question show up, and poorly written ones be difficult to find, nothing to do with opinion, besides what proposal is there to disagree ? It needs a name change, World Building has little to do with science, for the ... (more) |

Okay I get that, but following my rationale, I find Codidact, I find Speculative Science, i am a young scientist and make a good question that's interesting and with plenty of applications for daily use, it gets closed for being “off-topic”, I think to myself “Well this sucks...” and move on to find ... A: Is this the right name for the site? I don't think Science has anything to do with 90% of the question asked in World Building, simply because most of them ignore key aspect of science. That said, I think the name should be "Speculative\Creative World Building" because it allures to the real thing we do, and keeps the speculation par... (more) |

Question | — |
Suggestion about the community name I suggest alteration of the name from "Scientific Speculation" to a more appropriate "World, Speculation". Why? Most questions they seek to answer are somewhat based on science, but rarely take science into account. It's more similar to Pseudo-Science Speculation, because it usually ignores mos... (more) |

Also most current question on that community arent anything to do with World Building, does it not need some kind of clean up ? im saying this because i browsed it today and answered a question and most of them seem not to have anything to do with world building like "how does PVA harden" (more) |

I get that, but the name is missleading, if i were looking for a science community thats where i would have gone, and it just isnt science, its more like people trying to Bs each other into believe what they are saying. (more) |

A: PVA glue curing process You are 100% right, if you know of a chemical process where something could inject water into the hardned epoxy, you can indeed revert the process, its not a Chemical reaction, more of a process of fast evaporation, in order to leave behind a Solid, without any space between molecules(relativly ofc),... A: Does 5th Gas Giant Have a Name? Nope, it is still unamed(I guess due to the controversy it created, and the inability to prove if it did exist or not), but i think Phaeton) would be a good name since its the one used for a couple of also Hypothetical planets (more) |

Question | — |
Shouldnt this question be moved instead of closed ? I'm a little disappointed that How can Single Vision lenses slow myopia for adults too? was deemed off topic. Can anyone explain to me why? It is indeed science speculation, it should be on rigorous sciences. The author linked multiple sources and made a good question, pointing out what makes him ... (more) |
