Fantastic gas, part 2: what would be the source of a subterranean gas that's not organic in origin? Natural gas comes can be found in the underground, but its origin are the organic rests of a long time ago. However, my gas doesn't come from dead trees or anything like that. What (and how long) would it take for all the water from a Great Flood to go away? How much would such an event shape the geography of the world? Many worlds have an apocalyptic/cataclysmic event. How can I justify what is basically a planetary ring system inside the atmosphere of my world? I was thinking of making flying islands part of a planet ring, but the problem was that they wouldn't be able to host life unless they were inside the atmosphere of the planet, but at that point it would seem unlikely that they could just float in the sky, so I'm here asking what I should do with the...
