Could a virus extend life-span?

Would it be possible for a virus to extend the average human life-span (but only by about 50-70 years max) if the infected people kept it controlled enough where it wouldn't (alternatively) kill them (for example- with minimal necessary treatment and technological re-enforcement of the body's systems)?
