Residing in Australia, the Yara Ma Yha Who is a creature of Aboriginal folklore being depicted commonly as:

• being 3-4 ft tall
• having reddish fur and skin
• having proportionately larger heads
• having no teeth
• having longer arms than legs
• living in fig trees
• having yellowish eyes
• having suction cups on their fingers which they use to drain the blood of their victims
• devouring their victims whole after draining them of their blood (optional)

Given these characteristics, what species could the Yara Ma Yha Who have evolved from, and what evolutionary pressures would lead to such a creature?
